Civita di Bagnoregio

La "Maestà" Timeless Home

Imagine walking down a lane in Civita, climbing an ancient stone staircase and entering a traditional tuff house. You're at Maestà, the largest suite among our properties.

The house is a typical one for Civita, with a layout on two floors; it has been restored with great care so as not to forego the historic atmosphere that meets you as soon as you come through the door.
When you enter, on the first floor, the door opens onto a living area which has a historic stone fireplace and is divided into two areas: on one side the kitchen and dining area and on the other a lounge with a large sofa and a smaller one in French walnut, dating from the early 1800s. The wall of the kitchen is tiled with Portuguese azulejos from the 17th century while the rest is hung with copper pans which belonged to a Parisian restaurant. A mirror from a Lyons boulangerie is suspended over the dining table. The floor is made up of historic chestnut-wood boards which once made up the ceiling of a noble country residence in central Italy.
An old cast iron staircase leads to the second floor where there's a large double bedroom with an 18th century desk from Emilia Romagna and a drawing room with a fireplace-bookcase. The bedroom walls appear as if covered by an enormous hedge; the effect is created by a rare type of wallpaper, made by Zuber, the oldest producer in France.
A magnificent door in walnut from Piedmont, dating from the mid-19th century with large glass windows from the time, leads into a spacious bathroom with a Jacuzzi hydro-massage tub, a shower and double washbasins which once adorned a Florence hotel.
By simply crossing the lane, guests can reach the private garden where there's a pergola, a table for breakfast and a couple of benches amongst the olive and fruit trees.

Maestà is equipped with wifi. Breakfast is included.
